Nienke Hoogvliet

The last couple of years we have seen more and more from Nienke Hoogvliet at the Dutch Design Week. Studio Nienke Hoogvliet is a design studio for material research, experimental- and conceptual design. Nienke works as a freelance designer for different companies and institutions but also continues her research in self-initiated design projects.

Jessica den Hartog

This year at the DDW we were inspired by the work of Jessica den Hartog. Every year Dutch Design Week (DDW) takes place in Eindhoven in October. The biggest design event in Northern Europe presents work and ideas of more than 2500 designers to more than 295,000 visitors from home and abroad. The DDW is different from other design events, because it concentrates on the designs of the future.

Vertical farming, urban agriculture and a floating farm

At present, our food system is inefficiently organized. Our food travels many kilometers, uses a lot of water, is wasted and pollutes the environment. Nevertheless, the 7 billion inhabitants, often living in large cities, must be fed. In order to do this in a sustainable way, food production must be integrated into the urban infrastructure for a significant part. Food flats and urban agriculture are important alternatives to this.


What is the DJ100?

The Sustainable Young 100 gives an overview of Dutch young entrepreneurs, young professionals and students who demonstrate that a sustainable future is possible. These pioneers are a source of inspiration for each other and for the established order! Anyone under the age of 32 can register. Every year, a jury of 10 will choose the 100 most inspiring young initiatives.

exhibition the industrial essence of kranen/gille

In the Noordbrabants museum in Den Bosch ran a very interesting exhibition of the renowned Dutch designer duo Kranen/Gille. Unfortunately the exhibition has ended now, but if you did not have the chance to visit, here you will find my visual report.
The exhibition was one of a series about Dutch Design from Brabant, ‘Made in Brabant’. Both Jos Kranen and Johannes Gille live in Den Bosch, so it cannot be more local for us, and since we love local design…
